Last Sunday, we celebrated Pentecost. Pentecost occurs 50 days after Easter and signifies the end of the Easter season. We celebrated this event with a Pentecost Liturgy in the Commons which was wonderfully led Mrs Moser and the Year 2M class. Thank you to the parents and family members who attended this celebration. We are certainly starting to see more parents attend our liturgies and assemblies. This is great for our community and we encourage you to keep attending and supporting your children. Next week is Reconciliation Week, and we will be holding a Mass to observe this in the St Bernadette’s Church at 9:15am. The Mass will be led by Ms Driscoll and the Year 5/6D class. We look forward to seeing more family members at this celebration.
You may have noticed some Year 5/6 students wearing fluorescent vests at afternoon pick-up. These students have volunteered their time to assist with the busy time of parents picking up their children after school. As our numbers have grown, the amount of people present at the gate has significantly increased, and this can sometimes be a bit crazy! These students may approach vehicles and ask for your child’s name in order to help streamline the process. Please be patient and supportive of our students as they begin this new system.
A key date to look out for this term is our Pupil Free Day on Friday June 7th. The teaching staff will be spending this day undergoing some professional development around the Religious Education Crossways curriculum, along with staff from Stella Maris and St Raphael’s School. We wish our Year 3-6 students luck at the SACPSSA Lacrosse Carnival this Friday!
God bless,
Ray, Michelle and Matt
In 3A we have been using Visible Wellbeing to identify our own strengths and how we can best utilise them in the classroom. A strength is defined as a positive quality/talent that is energising, we choose to use, and we perform well at. We can use our strengths in our learning, to meet challenges and to help others.
We have been playing weekly board games and participating in social skills activities. This is helping us to learn about taking turns, spotting strengths in our peers and understanding winning and losing.
Visible Wellbeing in 4L
4L have been looking at the 24-character Strengths through whole class discussions and in Guided Reading groups.
During our Literacy Groups we took turns in reading the strength cards and then chose our top 5 Character Strengths.
We recorded our Top 5 in our book, then used CANVA to create our own Bitmoji with our character strengths.
