On Tuesday night, 17 of our incredible 5/6 students participated in the Catholic School Music Festival at the Festival Theatre in the city. it was a sight to behold to see our students on stage with up to 500 other students - and wow, did they do us proud! Congratulations to all who participated and a huge thank you to Ali Turnbull for her dedication and effort into ensuring our students were well prepared to shine on stage.
It has been a big couple of weeks on the sporting front. Our Year 5/6 cohort travelled to West Beach last week to participate in the Catholic Primary Schools Cricket Carnival. Our students demonstrated excellent skill and sportsmanship, with many of our students improving their cricketing ability over the course of the day. What was extremely impressive was the terrific attitudes and behaviours our students demonstrated throughout the carnival – well done to the Year 5/6 students!
The week then concluded with Sports Day. While the weather could’ve been better, we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of the parents and family members who braved the weather and came along to support their child and the school. Days like this are often the highlight of the school year for students and your support helps to make it significant. Congratulations to St Dominic’s for winning the Sports Day Shield and to St Bernadette’s for winning the Dominican Spirit Award.
Our term concluded this week with a whole school mass in the church, led by the Year 5/6B class. It was great to have Fr Joseph back with us after his holiday to India, and the Year 5/6B students and the Praise Squad led the mass wonderfully.
As we reflect upon the term, we can say it has been huge.... Swimming week, Book Week, Sports day, whole school Masses, liturgies, assemblies, Catholic Schools Music Festival and an Andrew Chin concert! A jam packed term filled with lots of fun. As always, we must thank our dedicated teachers, ESO's and admin staff for all the hard work they put into educating and caring for your children, and to you our wonderful community for your ongoing support. Happy holidays to all - we look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for another fun filled term 4 on Monday 14th October.
God Bless,
Matt & Michelle
Last week we celebrated our annual Sports Day!
While the weather forecast was not great leading into the day, we were fortunate enough to avoid the rain for the most part and have a highly successful day. We had clinics take place which were run by Football Australia, Colonel Light West Tennis Club, and Footsteps, as well as some fun relay events where our house teams competed against each other. We also had some exciting sprint races to begin our day which were highly entertaining and close finishing, particularly our parents race!
Our House Captains did a fantastic job in leading the day – well done to Brima, Lauren, Sophia, Bakhita, Prajna, Xavier, Aarav, Abigail and Shubhan. The Sports Day results were as follows:
Sports Day Shield:
1st – St Dominic’s
2nd – St Bernadette’s
3rd – St Catherine’s
Dominican Spirit Award:
1st – St Bernadette’s
2nd – St Catherine’s
3rd – St Dominic’s
In order for us to keep on improving this event, I would like to collect feedback from staff, students and families. We had an amazing number of parents and family members who attended which is a testament to the community we have built at St Bernadette’s. If you are happy to provide me with some feedback, please click on the link below and fill in the survey on MS Forms. The survey takes between 5-10 minutes to complete. Your feedback helps to make the day even more successful in the future.

We are looking forward to a big term of Sport in Term 4, with the big event being the SACPSSA Athletics Carnival in Week 4 – Tuesday November 5th. Trials for this event will take place in Week 1 of Term 4 for Year 3-6 students.
Thank you for your ongoing support!

Catholic Schools Music Festival
On the evening of Tuesday the 24th of September, our St Bernadette’s Senior Choir members delivered an OUTSTANDING performance at the Catholic Schools Music Festival, alongside other Catholic school choirs and ensembles.
We are so proud of our students for their hard work and perseverance, as they have rehearsed throughout the entire school year to prepare for this special event.

We are honoured to have such dedicated students representing our school and hope that memories of their performance last a lifetime!
Thank you to our wonderful families and teachers who came along to support our Choir.

Art & Learning in 3A
This term we learnt about Picasso and just how unique he was. We followed a tutorial to draw Picasso style faces. One side faces the right and the other side faces the front as you will see in the header of this Newsletter and below. Also, in Religion we have been learning about why Mary is so special and important to us as part of this learning, we created stained glass windows. Each window has a silhouette that reflects one of the many titles given to Mary. The students were fascinated by how many titles she has to honour the help she has given us.
